Located in Fontana, CA, the client is a large manufacturing/design company. The company offers plate and tube laser cutting, forming, and welding, precision CNC machining, engineering and 3D scanning. The Robotics Division provides a reliable service for automation equipment and robotic integration.
Employees specialize in everything from packaging to complex automation machine design and programming. The company serves the aerospace, automotive, construction, and film industries with custom designed parts proudly built in the USA.
Need:
The need was custom software development services to build an ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) system that allows customers to request quotes via a web-based app. They required business process automation to streamline their process and put everything conveniently online instead of managing everything with excel sheets and documents. The manual processes in place were not only error prone but also heavily time consuming.
Solution:
Custom Software Lab created a simple web application that enabled customers to enter their requirements/services, upload design files and submit a quote request on any computer or smart device. Once submitted, the customer can then login to check the status of their quote, view any quotes that have been submitted, and approve or deny the quote. Once the quote has been approved, the customer has the ability to submit change requests for the project and view the order status.
A powerful backend system for all the employees enabled easy access to the posted data and project statuses, sales team and other staff members can login and see any quote requests that have been submitted, download the design files and provide an estimate right in the system. The estimate is submitted for approval to the customer, who then logs in and approves or rejects the quote.
After approval is received from the client, the quote is converted to a Job, where the respective team can assign materials and items needed to complete the project. This feature reduces the item inventory in our custom-designed Materials, Items, and Inventory sections, providing more efficient inventory management.
Within the custom Materials Items Inventory system, employees can enter purchase orders and mark products as fully or partially received when they are delivered. Here, the team can also plan the project’s workflow by adding the required steps to complete the job, choose the work area, team, date, location, and who to notify per step, and doing a cycle count.
Employees can easily view the system’s quotes, jobs, customers, and inventory. The new system has four user categories – Admin, Employee, Sales Person, and Team Lead, and what they can see is based on their assigned category. Any files uploaded by the customer or backend team are integrated with their Dropbox and stored on the cloud so that team members can access and view designs easily.
